STEP IT UP A NOTCH?
THE PRIDE OF THE INUIT - East GreenlandIt was in these Arctic waters that kayaking was invented. This kayaking and trekking adventure will be challenging, an expeditionary spirit and flexible attitude are required.
Studies determined that if the Inland ice would melt the worldwide waterlevel could rise by as much as 6-7 meters and the island would be lifted up by about 600 meters. Some of the largest icebergs can be found in West Greenland, in Ilulissat (Jakobshavn), also referred to as Disko Bay. Only about about 10-15 % of an iceberg can be seen above water. Greenland became equal citizens of the Kingdom of Denmark in 1953 and achieved Home Rule status in 1979, which permitted the possiblity of an own parliment.
