Kayaking with Killer Whales – A Not-so-Ordinary Family-Friendly Vacation

If you’re yearning for a not-so-ordinary, family-friendly vacation, forget theme parks and waterslide resorts, think outside the box and inside a kayak, where whale-watching and wilderness adventures rule the day. Enroll in Orca Camp  our guided two, three, or five-night family kayaking and camping adventure – you’ll be creating warm summer memories for your kids that will last them (and you) a lifetime (plus, there’s whales!).

Remember Life Without Laptops?

…or Smartphones, or PlayStation or iPads or busy schedules? Disconnect your devices and recapture those days, discovering how good it feels to get off the grid, connecting the family with the great outdoors – drinking in the salty sea air, kayaking BC’s rugged coast, whale-watching, beachcombing, exploring tidal pools, hiking a lush temperate rainforest, sharing meals around a campfire, and camping by the ocean’s edge.

No Experience? No Worries!

We welcome families with children as young as eight, and whether you’re a pro with a paddle or picking one up for the first time, we allow plenty of room in our itineraries to make sure everyone’s comfortable in their kayaks.

Orca Camp begins with full paddling instruction and kayak orientation. Once outfitted in your spray skirt and lifejackets you’ll take to the water, adults or guides paired with children, paddling in tandem kayaks.

Unleash Your Spirit of Adventure

Launch off and kayak the quiet coves and tranquil bays of the Johnstone Strait, scanning the horizon for signs of Orcas, sea lions, dolphins and Humpbacks, listening to your family’s excited cheers at every sighting. We paddle the shoreline in short stretches, stopping for seaside snacks and wholesome picnic lunches on craggy, pebbled beaches. Don’t be surprised if our stops include a treasure hunt or two – there’s always something fascinating to uncover in this wild and magical place.

Camp Life

You’ll find time slows down at Orca Camp, keeping pace with the rhythm of the tides. Our days are unhurried; you may even say laid back. After all, it’s hard to keep up a hectic schedule here, when you’re unplugged from technology, and plugged into nature with sunsets to watch, whales to look out for, and stories to tell around the campfire.

Family Accommodations

Orca Camp is a rustic camping experience – with just enough indulgences to make your family feel right at home. After a day playing outside, your clan can retreat to cozy two and four-person tents tucked into the rainforest. No need for bedtime stories here, the sound of the tide lapping the shore easily lulls you to sleep.
