We like to take the guesswork out of your adventure vacation, leaving you to immerse yourself in the best kayaking with whales experience in the Johnstone Strait. We believe knowing just what to expect in advance goes a long way toward making this once-in-a-lifetime experience both memorable and stress-free.
Time slows down at Orca Camp, keeping pace with the rhythm of the tides. Life is unhurried, you may even call it laidback. It’s hard to keep up a hectic schedule here, when you’re disconnected from the wider world, with sunsets to watch, whales to look out for and stories to be told around the campfire.
Orca Camp is a rustic camping experience – with just enough indulgences to make you feel right at home.
A cozy tent tucked into the rainforest is your personal retreat at the end of a day kayaking with Orcas. Spacious, waterproofed and outfitted with Therma-rests and sleeping bags, tent pads and pillows, you’ll have the kind of deep, restful sleep you can only have in the great outdoors.
The Beach Café camp kitchen becomes command central for meal preparation. Take a seat at the picnic tables overlooking the bay and the islands beyond. Savour a steaming mug of coffee or tea, while our guides prepare meals that satisfy your hunger for hearty and wholesome foods. You need not lift a finger – they take care of it all for you – right down to dish detail afterward.
The pebbled beach and roaring bonfire is where you’ll gather morning and night, connecting with newfound friends. And, if you’re in the mood – the Wobbly Bear Spa waits for you – right at the shore, full of hot rocks and steam, to soothe tired muscles at the end of the day.
We welcome beginners and paddlers of all ages and abilities join our expeditions – no experience is required. You can expect four to six hours of exploring the Johnstone Strait, whale watching and kayaking with orcas each day. Most days we put in the water right after breakfast and return in the late afternoon. Not all of your time will be spent in the kayak – there are plenty of rest stops to stretch your legs, indulging in snack breaks, picnic lunches and plenty of time for beachcombing.
We take the work out of kayaking and camping, leaving you to concentrate on the wildlife, and capturing as many memories as you will photographs. An Ecosummer kayaking with Orcas adventure includes high-end camping and kayaking gear waiting for you right at base camp:
